Basketball Rivalry Turns Into a Rout

Twitter beef, Intense lunchtime arguments, Snapchat disses, and the famous quote “Who’s guarding me, no one on your team can guard me?” said by the hypeman of the game, led to the much-anticipated game of basketball between two of Paint Branch’s biggest squad groups: TRG vs DS.

On a hot Friday after school, at the Paint Branch basketball courts, an intense game took place between TRG and DS TRG only had  2 players with an organized, basketball-playing past., while DS had Daniel Brown, a current Paint Branch basketball captain, and four other people with past AAU and high school experience.  However, TRG wasn’t fazed, calling them before the game, “a team of washed up basketball players.” The game of the week had a turnout of 60 people chanting for either squad, but TRG had most of the support because they were the underdogs. The game was first-to-16 wins. It started and TRG tried to hold their ground as the other squad used their amazingly high basketball IQ and skill to outmatch TRG’s size, strength and speed.

The matchup was tight, and the score was 8-8 before DS drained four straight 3’s to send DS on a 8-0 run to end the game. The athleticism of TRG just couldn’t keep up with the sharp skills of DS. When asked about the game afterwards, Bryant Stallings, who led the team with 6 points, mocked TRG by saying, “Washed-up what?”.

There was talk afterwards about whether or not there will be a rematch next week and if this would be a weekly thing, but both squads didn’t comment on the subject. TRG didn’t because they were ashamed of the loss; they just endured and were more focused on preparing for the bragging that’s coming forth in the future, while DS was in the moment, celebrating the win.
