PB College Fair

Wide-Array of Schools on Display for Students

Cynthia Larios, Staff Writer

On a warm fall morning, students gathered in the gym to collect information from colleges at the this year’s College Fair.

While some of the students were able to speak with representatives from their dream schools or schools they are very interested in attending, others took advantage of the opportunity to learn about places they have never considered.

In visiting the fair, students were separated by grade. During periods 1 and 2, freshman and sophomores visited. These students are not yet close to college age, but the fair gave them a chance to see some schools and begin thinking about college.

During periods 3 and 4, the juniors and seniors visited and really took-in what the material made available to them. Colleges from as far away as Florida and as close as College Park set up shop in the gym. Students could visit with representatives from the University of Connecticut, Florida Atlantic University, and the University of Alabama as well fifty-five other schools. Of course, of Maryland schools were well-represented. As Bowie State, Hood College, Montgomery College, Mount St. Mary’s University, Notre Dame of Maryland University, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Stevenson University, Towson University, University of Baltimore, UMD, UMD-Eastern Shore, and Washington College all had tables set up in the gym.

The college fair was beneficial to all students who attended, especially those who are undecided about what school they’d like to attend or what area they would like to study.
