Summer Fashion 2017

Shayla West, Staff Writer

It is March  and summer is fast approaching, which means one thing: summer fashion. If you  find yourself wondering what the fashion trend is going to be this year:

Will it be Prada? Valentino? Versace? Guess?

“Is this the actual trend now?”

“Should I still wear this?”

I am here to answer those questions. (of course – only ask questions you can answer)

The answers to the questions depends on your personal style, of course. From what it looks like in early spring,  this summer will be the season for mix and match, boho, and camouflage, according Vogue. Of course,  some fashions can be rather expensive, but there are  plenty of different ways to achieve these styles on a budget.

Unusual patterns to wear is the first step in any type of style. Using leopard print as a neutral and wearing different textures together and patterns are a couple of different ways to stand out…(without finishing the sentence, this is a fragment). And since it will be summer, don’t forget to be bright.

Another important step in being fashionable this summer is to stop wearing the traditional denim and tank tops. Try wearing high-waisted leopard bottoms and then tuck in a neon-pink, button-up top with a belt to blend it all in. Add in the shoes of your choice, and you’ll look great. Another option is to put together a  bright-colored suit, or a leather blouse with a striped shirt and red pants.

You can really just throw anything together and call it an outfit. As long as it appeals to your liking, it’s a go…

Boho will also be a trend this summer; for all of you who prefer the urban lifestyle. boho, or bohemian, is  a hippy type style that is made up of transparent  lace  and loose, lightweight clothing. Boho fashion can come in multiple styles with the main one being really anything in the color cream. Although anything vintage-looking can qualify as boho, just add a touch of a chunky gem necklace and sandals to finish the look.

As for the guys reading, caps, checkerboard, and camouflage are some of the urban styles to look for, according to Vogue.

The style for the cap varies because there are  not only multiple colors but also different textures.

So get rid of the basic black and try to change it up. Maybe try red denim or nude leather. Actually, you could keep the black cap and personalize it just by adding a few of your own designs to it.

For the checkerboard, try getting different styles of the simple design. Don’t get the basic black and white shirt, but try getting the black and orange checkerboard print shorts. Or maybe the hand-painted checkerboard denim jacket to bring out your red shirt and dark pants.

How can camouflage be different? Maybe avoid the typical military-looking camouflage pattern and move on to the urban look with a slightly different pattern.

There’s the unusual look with flowers or circles, or even different shades of pink in a flower camouflage shirt and tan shorts. Another option is to try various  shades of blue on circle camouflage socks with black Converse shoes.

What can you do for urban styles? Urban styles can vary. There’s the typical ripped jeans with Tims, a long white shirt and a some type of cover-up.

To change this up, try  denim overalls with a black ripped shirt and black vans.

You can try all of the suggested styles, and you can add your own touch. Just keep in mind that you should do whatever makes you feel comfortable and don’t  be pressured to follow the crowd. Of course, this can all be done and stay within a budget. If you’re comfortable with a 90’s style and a low budget, then stick with it and probably try to look at different thrift stores. If you’re comfortable with a hippie style, stick with it and try stores like Forever 21 or Papaya. No one is trying to take you out of your comfort zone, nor is anyone trying to make you go broke due to fashion. There are always ways to be trendy and stay within your budget, whether it’s by going to low cost  stores or making it yourself.
