Spring Fashion for High School Students

What is the best thing about the seasons changing? Fashion. The change from winter to spring is a pretty big one weather wise, and it is also a huge one fashion wise. We go from big winter coats and winter boots to sandals, small jackets, and short sleeves.

Fashion is different among individuals, with age playing a big factor. A five year old’s day- to- day spring outfit might be totally different from a fifteen-year-old’s day to day spring outfit. However, no matter what gender or age a person is, everyone has a style that they follow.

According to Pinterest, the trends for spring can vary, depending mostly on gender and age. Some girly girls love skirts, dresses, floral patterns, and bright colors, and other girls may also like patterns and vibrant colors, but might be more toned down overall. There are guys who like to wear a hoodie and jeans with sneakers, and there are guys who like to dress up a little bit more with nice button-downs or plaid shirts. Or someone could be a little bit of both styles for either gender, deciding one day that  they want to dress up, and the next they might want to take it casual. Style varies from person to person, and someone’s personality can really show through their clothes.

If you don’t know what to wear for this spring, don’t worry. There are many on-trend fashions for different styles. Floral prints and pastels are often more popular during this time of year. The warm sweaters come off, and the loose and flowy shirts come out. A really popular trend for girls is pairing a flowy top with jeans and sandals. Although black goes with everything, try to avoid wearing too much during springtime. Spring is the time to wear all kinds of bright and colorful patterns.

Another great option for a girlie-girl is a jean jacket with a white or pastel pink crop top, with a high-waisted, floral mini skirt. Anything pastel pink looks great when a rose gold watch is paired with it.  This could be paired with white sneakers or sandals. A pastel-colored backpack would match the floral prints really well.

A more-casual option for spring are some jeans, Converse, and a plain, basic short- sleeved shirt. Since this look is very plain, it can be paired with accessories such as a bracelet or a choker. Another trend that has been popular are floral kimonos. Since these typically have a very loud, colorful pattern, they look great paired with a basic tee, jeans, or jean shorts, and flats or sandals. Kimonos are ideal for spring, as opposed to cardigans, because they are lighter and not as heavy and warm. This outfit would look great topped off with some gold hoop earrings. Girls can express themselves in so many ways through what they wear in the Spring.

As for teen boys, most of them stay very casual as the seasons change no matter what the time of year is.  Hoodies and T-shirts never go out of style for guys. The “typical” teen boy outfit would be a hoodie, jeans, and sneakers. No matter what season it is, guys never stop wearing sneakers. Jordans, Adidas, Nike, and Puma are very common brands that you see boys wearing. Most teen guys don’t really have accessories; they keep everything casual. However, recently, both boys and girls have been sporting army jackets, mostly in the color green. These jackets are perfect on top of a black shirt and ripped jeans. A more-dressy approach is a nice button-down, which looks nice when paired with a watch and a belt, accompanied by some khakis or a pair of very nice jeans. The perfect shoes to wear with this are Sperrys, or a clean pair of dress sneakers. If you want to take this look a little bit more casual, you can leave the button-down open and add a white shirt under it. Sweatpants such as Adidas joggers, are worn year-round, and look nice with a plain white, grey, or black tee. A pop of color and loud patterns aren’t as common for boys during the springtime. Most high schoolers in general like to keep it more casual, especially during school. Fashion varies from individual to individual; it’s all about finding your style and being confident!
