I’M NOT DONE, BUT I’M DONE

Wow, it’s really here. I finished my last year of high school. It was a roller coaster. I had some good times and bad times, and I shed some tears of both joy and despair. I am so happy to start the next chapter of my life.

Unfortunately, that will have to wait since this chapter is not quite done. Mentally I have checked out,  but I still have four months to go. Four months of coming to class everyday. It seems unbearable.

I would define senioritis as simply not wanting to do any school work because “it doesn’t even matter anymore.” I am sure most seniors in high school can relate to this feeling of not wanting to take notes, study for tests, or even show up to class. I have already been accepted into college, which is probably the primary factor that has put my senioritis into full drive. Isn’t getting into college what high school is all about? So why am I still here?

The tough answer is, “no.” High school is not just about getting into college.  High school is to prepare me for college, and this season of laziness and apathy is the biggest obstacle I have ever faced in my high school career. I am now struggling simply to try to push through and be the best student I can be with no motivation to do so. I have some ideas of how to maintain some drive, but even these ideas seem to be nothing more than fleeting attempts to hold on and not disconnect before it is time.
