The 2019 NFL draft is officially over and the rookies are going to their new homes. One team that made a lot of picks was the Baltimore Ravens. From these picks, the Ravens hope to add some young talent to a group that lost some important players. These include end Terrell Suggs, linebacker CJ Mosley, and safety Eric Weddle.

However, as they always seem to do, the Ravens made great moves in the draft picking up arguably the best receiver in Marquise Brown of Oklahoma. Receiver was a prime need for them, who have been in a bit of wideout crisis for a few years.  Brown should make a good addition to their roster because of the scheme they are playing in now that Lamar Jackson is running the offense.

Other solid picks include linebacker Jaylon Ferguson, who will be a great addition on defense with the recent loss of Za’Darius Smith. Ferguson will be manning that outside linebacker spot for them after  a four year career at Louisiana Tech where he recorded 45 sacks, earning the name of “sack daddy.” This rookie has a chance to produce some quality numbers for the team this season.

They drafted another receiver in Notre Dame’s Miles Boykin, who will make a good addition to their offense with the combination of him and Brown.  Their game plan will shift with these receivers. Boykin is 6’ 4” and 220 pounds, so they will use him in the red zone a lot because of the size advantage he will have on the opposing defenders. This was a good steal in the 3rd round for them because he was projected to go early third round so hopefully Boykin is ready to make plays this season.

The Ravens also drafted a running back in Oklahoma State’s Justice Hill.  They already have a strong running core but just adding Hill really strengthens the stable  at running back. the team was rushing for almost 200 yards a game with just Gus Edwards and Kenneth Dixon, so now pair that with the group of newcomers including Hill and Edwards, Mark Ingram, and Kenneth Dixon.  Imagine how the game plan is going to be with these four monsters at running back. Maybe they each get at running back for a quarter, but we will just have to see what the teams’ thought process will be.

Another solid pick was offensive Ben Powers from the Oklahoma Sooners. In Powers, the Ravens add another player to what has become a good young O-line.  They want to build up a strong team, so this young line should steadily progress and, over time, they may be one of the best O-lines in the league.
