The much-anticipated basketball season has begun. Two games into the season the Paint Branch Boys’ Basketball team is 2-0 with wins over the Watkins Mills Wolverines and the Damascus Hornets.
The Panthers beat Watkins Mills 72-64 and got a huge game from senior Isaiah Lee, who scored 21 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, got 6 steals, and dished out 2 assists. Junior Kahlil Fountain added to the win by shooting 5/9 from the 3 and scoring 18 points. Senior Ryan Tienctheu added on with a double-double scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
On December 10th it was the Panthers’ home opener against Damascus, and the Panthers sorted out the Hornets 57-53. Lee once again led the team with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Senior Jamarcus Yates added 11 points, and senior Clement Ntunma easily collected 7 rebounds.
Rolling into a Friday night matchup against Albert Einstein, the Panthers looked to move to 3-0 on the young season. The matchup against the Titans was an electric game that had the Paint Branch fans in attendance making their presence known. The Panthers won 93-49, with Fountain leading the way with 24 points and Lee adding in 23. Throughout the game, the lead kept extending and extending as the Panthers were strong on both ends of the court.
The Panthers now move on to a double-header home game against the Seneca Valley Eagles today (10/16) at 7:15 p.m. This should be an amazing battle considering they are 3-0 following the Einstein game and multiple players—most notably Lee and Fountain—are on a hot streak. The Panthers will look to move to 4-0 as they take on the Screaming Eagles, who are off to a 1-2 start.
