Ask Yourself If It’s Worth It
November 7, 2014
I know that I’m not the only who finds killing animals for fashion wrong. Several celebrities including P. Diddy, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Joan Rivers, Rick Ross, Usher, Jay Z and others love wearing fur and leather coats for the spotlight, but one wonders whether any of them actually thought about where those materials come from to make their fashions.
While these celebrities are known for their flashy, fancy fur and leather coats of all colors for the public eye to see, the media eats it up. Media’s fascination with fashion is like women competing with each other just to win over a man’s heart. The media is well-known for focusing on celebrities and their fashion sense, so when customers buy magazines or follow online, they criticize them base on their looks, instead of character. The media is also known for publicly humiliating celebrities’ outfits and providing controversial opinions that give nothing but negative feedback.
According to Animal Defenders International article, Why it is wrong to wear fur, “…endangered and threatened species are… illegally poached and traded for their skins, contributing to the extinction of species such as tigers, leopards and ocelots.” Killing godlike creatures that are trying to keep their distance from savages like us is wrong. It is one thing to look nice for the public eye, but it’s not nice to kill animals that may soon be extinct. People should not have the right to kill helpless creatures that want nothing more than to live peacefully in an environment with no trouble. To flip the script around, what if animals were the humans for a day and decided to kill majority of us, just to wear our skin? The way one should think about that disturbing question should be the way that hunters think when considering killing such helpless animals.
It’s not necessary for people to wear clothes that are made from materials that involve harming creatures. We ought to think of the consequences of these types of things before being a part of them. I say that government should enforce a law will protect the animal’s well-being or maybe pass a law that prohibits savage hunters from killing them for fashion usage.
