As the Lady Panthers get ready for the 2014-15 basketball season, the level of expectations for this team are quite high both here at school and in the local area. After finishing 23-3 last season, which included a visit to the Maryland State Semifinals at Towson University, the team is excited to improve upon that run and do even better this season.

With strong returning experience in seniors Kaylyn French, Tyra Sinclair, and Daisa Harris, the road to victory should be pretty clear. However, these seniors are not the only ones who will play a big role in the team’s success. Coach Coleman is quick to state that

“Everyone on the team plays a vital part in ensuring the team reaches the goals they have set for themselves. Some players may receive more notoriety because of stats or their style of play, but if all eleven do not buy in to working hard day in and day out, and improving as individuals and as a team, the kind of success we are looking for will be hard to find.”

The Lady Panthers put in significant hard work to prepare for the upcoming season, which is exactly what it takes to have an outstanding season like they did last year. Obviously, rivalry games are important games for the Lady Panthers to win as are the Consortium games.

The Lady Panthers want to put themselves in the best situation possible for playoffs, and to do that Coach Coleman says, “Every game on our schedule is a key game.” The Lady Panthers will be going into every game this year with the mind-set that it is a key game.

With last year’s team playing at such a fast pace and intensity, this team will look to continue that success with a similar style. Defense and rebounding will play a key role this season for the Lady Panthers, as will good ball movement on offense and using all five positions to score. “We’re a fast team who likes to push the ball up the court and score fast.” said Senior Guard, Tyra Sinclair. As every basketball team knows, solid defense and a strong, quick-strike offense is what every team strives for, and the Lady Panthers hope to be that team this season.
