Winter Sports Preview: Boys’ Basketball
December 19, 2016
As Paint Branch Basketball enters the 2016-17, they will bring a talented team to the hardwood. In his second year at the helm, Head Coach Chris Bohlen will look to senior Daniel Brown, junior Bobby Miller, and sophomore Richard Dudley to lead the way.
The Panthers have some big games this season, including rivalry games against Springbrook and Blake, which are always exciting and intense contests. Also, Sherwood and Kennedy will present strong challenges. The Panthers finished 10-13 last year and lost some key players in Kendall Morton, Patrick Nya, and Alphonso Zamora, but Coach Bohlen hopes that this year’s group can find a way to build off of last year.
Coach Bohlen sees the team’s strengths as aggressive, defensive pressure and team chemistry. As for weaknesses, he feels that the team will have to learn to fight through adversity and find a way to be consistent in their offensive execution. Montgomery County has some solid teams this year that are going to be tough to beat, but Coach Bohlen and the Panthers are ready to roll. “We are very excited to get the year started,” says Coach Bohlen.
“The guys have been working extremely hard, are learning our new system, and have been playing well together. We have a lot of depth, as well as guys who can play multiple positions. The competition in the county this year is wide-open and we are looking forward to the challenge of competing every night!”
