Top Scholars and Featured Scholars Celebrated

Everyone wants to succeed in high school. However, some exceptional students go beyond the call of duty, excel in their classes, and become some of the highest-ranked students in their class. These are the Top Scholars.

Also on this success ledger are those students who have shown outstanding improvement during their high school career and are named Featured Scholars.

On May 3rd and 9th, respectively, Paint Branch commemorated the success of these two groups of seniors – forty-five in all – for their outstanding achievements with a dinner and awards program at the Hotel At Arundel Preserve in Hanover. Students and their families, along with a teacher whom students chose to invite, enjoyed a formal dinner and celebration ceremony honoring each student.

On Wednesday, May 3rd, the Featured Scholars Banquet gave high praise to twenty-three seniors for outstanding academic progress throughout their four years at Paint Branch. Students invited an influential staff member, who recited a sentimental speech about the student which often highlighted favorite moments they shared with the student. Featured Scholars received a medal and certificate for their achievement.

On Tuesday, May 9th, the top of the top, the best of the best, the Top Scholars enjoyed their honorary event. The Top Scholars are the students who ranked in the top 5% of the graduating class. These twenty-two students also invited an influential staff member who made a difference in their lives at PB. Again, these staff members offered sparkling insights into the students as well as some humorous – mostly academic – moments from their time working with the young person. Top Scholars received a medal as well as a certificate for their accomplishment and a tassel worn only by the Top Scholars for graduation.
