Top Albums Dropping Fall, 2017
October 12, 2017
Did you know that fall, 2017 will see the release of new music from artists ranging from Demi Lovato to Taylor Swift and from Cardi b to Miley Cyrus?
These four artists are the start of what should be a strong fall in the music industry.
Cyrus’ new album Younger Now was released on September 29th, and Lovato’s album, Tell Me You Love Me, came out on the same day. These simultaneous releases prompted industry website PopCrush to refer to the two artists as “Disney princesses gone pop stars.”
The two artists don’t express any feelings of animosity toward one another. Yet cannot help but pit the two “Disney princesses” against one another. On the genre front, the battle between the two former Disney stars pits Cyrus’ country vibes with Lovato’s pop styles. This will be a true battle as those who support each artist will use reviews and album sales to determine a winner. Younger Now is Cyrus’ sixth album, as is Lovato’s Tell Me You Love Me.
Both Cyrus and Lovato were born in 1992 and saw their lives escalate after starring in Disney programs. Cyrus went from Party in the USA to being in Malibu and living the pop dream. She is now coming back to her country roots, which should pay off for her.
Lovato is a soprano who saw her career lift off after starring in the 2008 movie Camp Rock with the Jonas brothers. Over time, Lovato – just like Cyrus – has evolved. Her 2011 album saw an emotional Demi become more confident ,and turn into an artist who just sings the soul-pop that inspires her.
PopCrush notes that Lovato’s new album has her singing the “soul-pop that inspires her” and quotes her telling Latina magazine in 2016, “I don’t care about radio hits. When you try hard for that, it doesn’t happen. I get tired of singing ‘Give Your Heart a Break’ and even ‘Confident’ already. I have yet to reach my peak, and also, my voice is better now than it was a year ago. Now I can show people what I can do.”
So now that Sept 29th came and went , will Demi’s album beat Miley on Billboard charts or will Demi have to settle for second best? Keep your ears and eyes open for who’s on top now and for the rest of the fall.
