Kourtney Do, Staff Writer
Korteny Do is a freshman at Paint Branch High School and loves to ride her bike. In fact, her favorite sport is cycling. Although she knows cycling isn’t very popular and not talked about much to her, it is a hidden sport or hidden talent.
Manga comics, or graphic novels, originate from Japan. Manga are a favorite of Korteny’s, in fact, she says that she has a “good number of Manga books” that she has gotten over time. Reading manga is something she does daily; it is like her favorite hobby. She does not compete in any bike races, because they don’t hold any. Kortney would also like to learn Vietnamese one day. So she can be able to communicate with her family, especially with her grandmother.
A superpower Kortney would like to have is “to be able to read minds.” She wouldn’t have this superpower to see what people think about her or say about her, since Kortney doesn’t care about what other people have to say. The reason she chooses this superpower is that she would like to see what her friends are doing well and not overthink it. All of this fits well with her personality as Kortney does what she enjoys doing without anyone having to judge her.
Something Kortney is scared of is ghosts. She says that part of the reason for this is that most of the time, ghosts carry dark energy. She also notes that sometimes “ghosts can haunt you.” Ghosts are a common fear that a lot of people have, so Kortney’s interest in them is not uncommon. Kortney’s beliefs about how ghosts carry dark energy and their ability to haunt people is a fear that many people share.
