It’s Never Too Late to Start Helping

It’s a new year and a time for new habits. When was the last time you did something to help someone else without getting anything in return? If you can’t think of something quickly, then it’s time to make a change.

Helping others is something all kids should be taught. However, if it wasn’t something you were taught, it’s not too late to learn. First, you have to find something you are passionate about, something you care about deeply. Whether it’s hunger, homelessness, domestic violence, animal treatment, education, gun violence or any other issues, all these major issues need to be addressed. Some think that the issues, for example, hunger, are too large for them to make a difference, but they don’t realize that the problems won’t fix themselves. Everyone needs to help in some way.

So many people struggle in this world, and they need help. The opportunities to help are endless; you can donate clothes to a shelter or food to a food bank, volunteer at a soup kitchen, write letters to government officials advocating for a cause, or start a protest.

So please, just get up and do something to help others. It will make you a better person for the new year.
