The PB Marketplace: Lynn Le

Meaning transient and lucid in Latin, Perlucet now stands for junior Lynn Le’s new chic and affordable online store.

From cute bracelets to trendy sweaters, Lynn offers a wide range of styles suitable for all tastes. She began her foray into entrepreneurship by selling friendship bracelets to her friends in elementary school and, as she grew, expanded into finer jewelry, cute tops, custom phone cases and shoes.

Inspired by her favorite YouTubers and other well-known Internet store owners, she opened her store in December of last year in hopes of sharing her skills and products to an expanding clientele.

After she saw friendship bracelets at the mall selling upwards of ten dollars, she asked, “Why would anyone pay so much for them?”

As crafting has always been a favorite of Lynn’s, most of the wide-array of merchandise she offers is handmade.  She describes her products as “industrial chic” but notes that she focuses on a “very wide range of style.”  This intimate handmade quality of the products does not affect the prices, as the store is very affordable.

The business aspect of Perlucet didn’t threaten her. She asked her boss and her neighbor, both small business owners, “for tips on how to deal with the legal aspect behind starting a small business, like taxes.”  She then heavily researched the system of creating a store on “an online forum.”

Lynn has always been an artistic person–for as long as she can remember, at least. From constant doodles to having her own wall at the 2013 Paint Branch Art Fair, she has flourished skillfully. She plans to continue her development through continuing her art education in different fields. As an Art Institute (AI) or a Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) hopeful, Lynn is now interested in interior design, though she plans on remaining dedicated to Perlucet as a side business as she focuses on her career-oriented education at AI or MICA.
