Greatest QB of all time?

One of the biggest questions in football is who is the best at each position? This leads to countless debates with stats and video evidence to prove why a particular player is the best. Possibly the most important position in the game, quarterback, faces the most. With names like Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Terry Bradshaw, and Steve Young, the list just gets harder and harder to decide. The whole conversation brings the list to 5 names, really, but after that it is almost impossible to take names off the list. It is simple; the best Quarterback in NFL history is actually multiple quarterbacks. Even though Peyton Manning and Tom Brady have the better statistics, the true discussion is who the best is in each era.

With another Super Bowl loss for Manning, his legacy earns another blemish. Manning who is 1-2 in the Super Bowl has a mediocre record when you look at Brady who has a 3-2 record in the most important game. Legacies are made in the post-season, and Brady has the better legacy when it comes down to that. Manning, who is considered the best statistical QB of all time, deserves that honor. This year he showed his dominance, finishing with a 5,477-yard season and adding on to that with 55 touchdowns, the most in NFL history. Manning has showed his dominance in the regular season throughout his career, but with an 11-12 record in the postseason some people question his ability to win the big games. The latest occurrence of this was in the Super Bowl with his team the Denver Broncos getting destroyed by the Seahawks 43-8.  However, the Super Bowl defeat should not only rest on Manning as the Seahawks just outclassed the Broncos coming into the game and it showed.

Tom Brady, who is commonly referred to as a Top 5, all-time QB. has shown up when it comes to big games. Brady, who is 3-2 in the Super Bowl, is one of the best QBs when it comes to the playoffs. Brady came up one game short of reaching the Super Bowl again when his team of misfit toys faced the explosive Broncos in the AFC Championship. This year was another great showing for Brady as he somehow took his team to one game away from the big one. A team without star tight end Rob Gronkowski, and a team with first-time starters in Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins as the 1 and 2 wide receivers for the majority of the year. It is simple; the Patriots need more weapons for Tom Brady. Picking up Danny Amendola in the off-season was no help to Brady as Amendola was hurt for a majority of the year. With a whole off-season ahead, the Patriots can get Brady the weapons and the Patriots could find themselves in that big game come next year.

So even when it comes down to the last 15 years, it is impossible to choose between Brady and Manning. That is why, when it comes down to the greatest of all time at the QB spot, it is a list and not a name.
