Why it matters: Choosing a job you love

Choosing a field in which to pursue can be very difficult. When selecting a career, it’s important to remember that you should always pick one that you’re interested in. Don’t get me wrong, money is a very important factor. It’s a factor that is needed to support one as well as their family. However, doing what you love is as well.

I can’t imagine waking up every morning and going to a job that I absolutely hate. Though you may be making lots of money in one job, you would hate almost every second of it. In psychology, extrinsic motivation is doing things because of what others around you want. Intrinsic motivation is the motivation to do things for yourself because you want to. Going to a job that you hate everyday only for the money will mean that you’re working extrinsically.

Rather than having to do job that you absolutely hate, you should find the best suitable job that involves something that interests you and pays well. Though the way I say this may make me sound naïve, I know it very possible. I have seen people work jobs day to day that they are in love with and still make enough money to feel comfortable. And they’re not only high end professionals.
