Teenage Driving
November 7, 2014
Why do teenagers need a car? Teenager’s need a car to mature as human beings. They need to be able to go places without their parents having to drive them. They need to be to experience life without their parents looking over their shoulders.
Teenagers have very busy schedules, and many times the teenager’s schedule will conflict with parent’s schedule. For example, John, the parent, has to stay late one day due to the fact that he’s late on a project deadline and, if he doesn’t finish that day his boss will not be happy. John has a son named Aiden, who is 18 years old and has football practice that day at 5PM. John is a single parent, so Aiden has to take the bus to practice and ends up being late. If Aiden were to have a car, he wouldn’t have to rely on his Dad to drive him to football practice.
Also, having a car helps teenagers learn responsibility. Teenage drivers learn how to organize their own plans, and will also gain practice in becoming a good driver. Also, buying a teen a car teaches them how to budget their money because they have to buy gas and pay for repairs. It teaches them to take care of their personal property. By buying a teen a car, they will get an early jump on the world so that when they leave their parent’s house, adulthood will seem simpler.
