Panthers Embrace Teen Jean Drive
PB Senior Seanne Coates Collects Jeans for Teens in Need

February 6, 2015
The teen jean drive is here. This event helps teenagers who don’t have jeans to wear by providing them with pairs of jeans that they can wear either to school or to hang out with friends.
According Seanne Coates, the PB senior who is leading the drive, this program is valuable because many teens do not have it as good as other kids do when it comes to clothing. Seanne notes that this program is a way for people to donate jeans that they don’t need or wear, so they can be reallocated to others who need them.
“I found out about the jean drive on a website and I felt good about the idea of a teen jean drive because I like taking the initiative to help,” says Seanne.
“The plans is to donate to Aeropostale, and then they’re going to give the jeans to homeless teens. This is the first time I get to be in charge of a big project. Being in charge is nice because you get to do things your way Instead of having someone else telling you what to do.”
According to Seanne, the program at Aeropostale takes donated jeans and makes sure they get to homeless teens and teens in need.
This process is a win-win situation for everyone involved as the donor is rewarded with both the good feeling of helping and a possible $5.00 gift card to Aeropostale, and those who need jeans get what they need. So far, Seanne has collected at least 50 jeans, and she’s very happy that the feedback has been so positive.
