It’s Time to Accept Reality and Make America Again!

In America today we have a problem, and that problem begins at the top. For the last two years we have had to deal with the insufferable mess that is the Donald Trump presidency.
From an exhaustive campaign that broadcast his belief that he could “Make America Great Again,” a promise which I will not even get started on right now, to two years of an unstable administration, it is clear that the true loser in this presidency is the American people.
Sadly, we have a leader who publicizes himself and his beliefs through tweets that often ramble, are filled with errors, or that make statements which openly support sexist and bigoted ideals. Don’t believe me? Well, a brief look at some of his “highlights” on Twitter reveal just such moments.
July 14, 2017: “Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn’t know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes. She is a…..” wrote Trump, leaving the thought about the respected actress open for his followers to finish.
January 13, 2018: “Thousand of Illegal aliens who have committed sexual crimes against children are right now in Texas prisons. Most came through our Southern Border. We can end this easily- We need a Steel Barrier or wall. Walls Work!” tweeted Trump, attributing the idea to John Jones of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
May 17, 2018: “Congratulations America, we are now into the second year of the greatest Witch Hunt in American History…and there is still No Collusion and No Obstruction. The only Collusion was that done by Democrats who were unable to win an Election despite the spending of far more money!”
As a teenage citizen of the United states, I am ashamed to say, at times, that I am even from this country. Being a citizen today means having to live with an administration that treats life and the well-being of its citizens as a joke. I look at these tweets coming from our supposed leader with pure outrage and utter disgust. In these three tweets alone we see his divisiveness, his lack of compassion, and his desire to divide people. From what he verbalizes on national television to the diction he uses in his tweets, we see man who has a plethora of things wrong with his personality, his world view, and his poise.
To see a person who holds such an honorable and vital title use his platform to degrade and belittle others and incite division reflects poorly on the American people. Think I am overreacting a bit? The truth is, due to many of his words and actions our once respected international authority and position has been openly challenged and Trump’s words mocked in places including the United Nations.
Instead of moving forward as a nation and building on the message of hope that President Obama built, we have been jerked to a halt because of a lack of morality in the highest office. The lack of sensitivity that resonates from the Oval Office is causing our country to suffer and has created a greater divide in our country than ever before.
