Key Clubbers Are Back in Action

Have you ever stopped and wondered what in the world Key Club is all about? Does Key Club make keys throughout the school year? That answer is of course- no!

Key Club is a club where members help out our community by doing charitable events where they receive SSL hours for it. Key Club held its first meeting of the school year on September 19th in Ms. Brinsko’s room.

The room was fully packed with students who were ready to help serve their community. Most of the Key Club members got informational packets, as well as their Key Club dues form, which is eleven dollars. Membership dues should be paid by October 17th

The meeting began with a touching video about how shoes are similar to Key Club– shoes take us to places where, when we leave, we make a difference just like what Key Clubbers will do. Basically, the video connects how shoes and Key Clubbers make a difference everywhere where they go.

Key Clubbers were then introduced to their Key Club officers: Tina Vo, president; Jezica Siarez, vice-president; and Vivian Nguyen, secretary.

Key Club does simple community service activities that give members SSL hours. Key Clubbers can donate 50 soda tops and 10 box tops to get a maximum of 10 SSL hours.  Key Clubbers also help bag lunches for food shelters and host bake sales to raise money for bag lunches that go to the shelters. Another form of SSL hours is by simply going to meetings! At this meeting, they discussed plans to host carwashes and even make T-shirts for members of Key Club.

Everyone is excited for Key Club this year. “I’m excited about baking and being with my friends,” says current Key Clubber Jane Ngyuen.

The Key Club officers are extremely happy and excited for Key Club this year as well, “I’m excited because there’s a lot of new Key Clubbers!” said Vice President Jezica Siarez.

Key Club this year is going to be filled with many fun, exciting, and surprising projects and, as an easy way to get SSL hours, Key Club expects to welcome in new members.
