Boys’ Soccer Battles Springbrook to a Draw

On Friday, October 7, the boys’ varsity soccer team went up against the Springbrook Blue Devils at 7pm at the Blue Devils stadium. Although the boys played a tough game, they could not earn a victory and it ended in a tie, 1-1.

The boys fought hard in the first half, getting the first goal of the game as senior Randy Opuni scored to give PB a 1-0 lead. Throughout the game, senior captain, Xavier Matthews, showed strong sportsmanship along with a tough attitude. Also, Renzo Quiroga showed great endurance running up and down the field passing each defender on the opposite team.

Fighting hard to tie it after the Panthers scored their first goal, Ralph Herji Saint Simon swerved in and out of Panther defense and scored to tie the game. For the remainder of the game, Panther Alex Johny stayed strong keeping the Devils’ forwards out of the Panthers’ box.

For the rest of the game, both the Panthers and the Blue Devils fought rough and hard, back and forth, hoping to get a goal to end the game with a win. Unfortunately neither team could. Into overtime they went. After the first ten minutes of overtime it was still 1-1, so their only hope was a final ten minutes in double overtime. Both the Devils and the Panthers came very close to scoring the winning goal but just didn’t make it. This ended the game in a 1-1 tie, a victory and a loss for both teams.
