Aja Tambedou, Staff Writer

Think back to a time when you felt nervous or uneasy.. Maybe it was feeling anxious as you waited for your mom to come home just knowing you were in trouble, or perhaps it was as simple as your pencil rolling off your desk into the front of the class and being too nervous about everyone looking at you to go pick it up. Or maybe you’ve felt the more recent challenge of innocently coughing in class and everyone starts looking at you like you have Covid.

For PB junior Aja Tambedou, being nervous is a feeling she is fairly familiar with, especially when she thinks about job interviews she’s had. For Aja, these were always a palm sweater. From wondering if she was saying the right things to fidgeting too much to not saying enough in the interview, these were tough moments.

When asked what she turns to in those times where she is feeling overly nervous and stressed, Aja replies, “Sometimes I watch Orange is the New Black on Netflix. It’s one of my favorite shows to watch so much that I rewatch it as often as needed.” As for what draws her admiration to the show she says, “It’s really the drama that I live for.”

As for what she is excited about in her own life, well, school is having an impact on that, says Aja. Currently rating her excitement about life as a “three” on a ten point scale,  She says that stress, school, and sometimes just the dullness of life make it score low right now. “Life just isn’t hitting right now,” she adds.

Taking things to a more heart-heavy turn, Aja reflects on her love for animals. If  stuck with the choice of a cat or a dog she would choose a dog, because  “cats scratch.” This is ironic because dogs are known to bite which is like the equivalent of what cats do, but that doesn’t matter to Aja. For her, the dog love comes in part from her own dog, Lola, who she says  “is very calm and nice to hang out with when I need to chill.” In fact, the two are inseparable.

Now speaking on things that do have space between them Aja would describe that type of relationship as  her and her only sibling Tida. She loves her sister of course and couldnt imagine being an only child but sometimes having a sibling is just not all that it's thought out to be.

As for what she would like to be remembered for she first talks about how she thinks people would remember her. “Hmmm I mean I guess I would say…. I really don't know. I feel like people would remember me like people think I'm rude so that's what they would remember me for.”

Pressed on this a bit, Aja notes that her bluntness can sometimes be seen as rude to others and she's very nonchalant. Though this isn’t really something that bothers her seeing as people will in the end think whatever they want to.

While Aja admits that people may not have the best view of her, She notes that she would actually like to be remembered for her great work ethic. This is shown not only through her school work but her everyday life working a job as well as being a full time student.
