Psych Club Meeting

The second meeting of the Psych Club psyched out students on September 23. Many students attended this meeting as the club continued to inspire returning members and bring in new ones as well.

The Psych Club teaches students about the brain, how it functions, and how it can be manipulated to think otherwise regardless of what’s really going on.  On this day, Psych Club discussed many criteria of the club during the meeting, including the way the brain works and how people can manipulate the way it works.  Another topic they discussed is participating in many local events such as a 1K and 5K runs.

Psych Club member Michael Katski summed up the goal of the club, saying that it is about “Psychology, right? Psychology and the human brain. Zing!”

The Club is for students who either want to be a psychologist or they are looking for interesting activities.  “I joined because I wanted to join an activity,” said Meley Fekede.

There were many firstyear attendees of the club at the meeting including junior Mai-Ahn Nguyen, who said, “Yes, this is my first year, and I think it’s a fun club and everyone is really nice.”

The Psych Club’s meeting played many videos that tricked the mind. One video showed how your sight and touch correlate and cause numbness because the brain gets sort of “lazy.”
