Music Helps You Grow

Ryheir Johnson, Staff Writer

Since the beginning of time, music has surrounded people. As it evolves, we hear different genres of music come to life and change our perspectives. From Guns N Roses to Falling in Reverse or from Aaliyah to Tinashe, music comes in a wide array of styles.

As the variety of music has increased, one key question remains: does music help you with anything? The answer is yes. I can answer this way as I have played the drums for almost 8 years. I’ve learned that playing and practicing music is a big help if you’re in a need of abolishing boredom.

If you think the old saying “Music can build your education” is wrong, well, you better think again because music truly shapes the minds of kids today – just as it has for generations. It is said that children who play instruments tend to have a large vocabulary which might explain why, when I come into the music room, I always hear my friends talking about AP Psych or other AP classes.

Music will always be with us and, as time passes, music will keep on improving and people will continue to improve along with it.
