Varsity Basketball Heads to Post-Season

Panther Boys Hope to Make Some Noise

With the Paint Branch boys’ varsity basketball season drawing to a close, it’s easy to say the regular season was a disappointment. The boys entered the season strong, posting a 5-3 record in their first eight games. Unfortunately, the Panthers faltered after their strong start, losing eleven straight games, seven of which were against division opponents. The Panthers finished with a 7-15 record, falling short of their tough 2014 season, where they finished 8-15.

Fortunately, the team does have an opportunity to make a run in the play-offs, led by leading scorer, senior Macie Jones. The official bracket is yet to come out, but the Panthers will likely begin their postseason run with a matchup against either Howard, or the rival Blake Bengals. The boys have not faced Howard, but lost to Blake twice during the regular season. Blake won both games in the last few minutes, but the Panthers showed that they are perfectly capable of getting a win the third time around.

Senior captain Stephen Adebesin is very optimistic about the upcoming postseason game, saying, “Everybody is 0-0 when the playoffs start.” Adebesin and the Panthers hope to bring some late-season success to what has been a disappointing season with a strong play-off run.
