Panther Sports Briefs: Track and Field

The Paint Branch Track Team had a successful showing at the 4A State Championships at the PG Sports Complex on Monday. On the boys’ side, the 4×800 relay took home the gold with an exciting win over Northwest. Other notable performances included Lorenzo Neil’s second-place finish in the 1600 meter run, Oliver Lloyd’s second-place finish in the 800 meter run and fourth-place finish in the 500 meter run, and Taiwo Adekoya’s fifth-place finish in the 500 meter run. Overall, the team finished fourth with 39 points.
The girls’ team also had an impressive day. Adassa Phillips won the girls’ 55-meter dash, and Bethlehem Taye finished second in the 3200-meter run. The team was also victorious in a thrilling, come-from-behind effort in the 4×200 relay and finished third overall in the 4×400 relay. The girls’ team finished fourth with a total of 34 points.
