On Saturday, January 12th, the Paint Branch Poms took part in the Blake Invitational Poms Competition.

Competing in the Division 1 schools category along with Gaithersburg and Clarksburg, the Panther Poms, better known as the Pantherettes, more than held their own. The competition at Blake High School began at 9:30 a.m. with PB kicking it all off. For their routine their song themes were based around testing their limits as all of their songs included the saying or something about “push it.”

In spite of a wardrobe malfunction that occurred during the routine, the Clarksburg captain was able to pull through for an amazing ending.

Last but not least for the division 1 group was Gaithersburg, who came up and showed out in an amazing performance.

At the end of each team performance, each team’s captain engaged in a quick dance that was scored by the judges and first, second, and third places assigned. Placing third for the captains was Paint Branch’s Mikayla Graham, second went to Clarksburg’s captain, and placing first was Gaithersburg’s captain.

For overall performance in the team event, Paint Branch finished third, while Clarksburg took second, and Gaithersburg took first.
