Welcome to the third and final print edition of Mainstream for the 2023-2024 school year. Throughout the year, our student journalists have continued to hone their reporting skills, write engaging articles, and create thought-provoking podcasts, all of which can be found on our website (pbmainstream.com). The editing team has worked incredibly hard to learn and utilize the programs that we employ to make our print editions, which has resulted in three beautiful issues of the paper for everyone to enjoy.
In this print issue, you can expect to read about the pros and cons of AI use in schools, the struggles of junior year, and some big PB events such as International Night, the Art Show, Prom, and the Environmental Club’s Flower Sale. Inside, you can also meet our new principal Dr. Robinson, get an inside look at PB’s security team, and see which staff members are retiring at the end of this year. Included as well are music picks from both our editing team and staff writers, a summer bucket list, and a debate between two of our staff over who should have won the NBA MVP.
Thank you to all the members of the Mainstream staff for their diligence in working to get this issue out. Their work is invaluable and we could not be more proud of their contribution not only to this final issue, but also to everything we have published this year. A special thank you to our seniors, who–despite their imminent freedom from school–have continued to work hard to get this issue out. We know it wasn’t easy, and we appreciate you!
Thank you to Mr. Woodward for his kindness, patience, and invaluable help as our advisor, editor, and teacher. Mainstream, not to mention this issue, would not exist without him, and we are all extremely grateful to him.
As for me, I am extremely lucky to have been editor-in-chief this year, and would like to thank my family, friends, and teachers for putting up with me as I stressed over each issue. This paper is a labor of love, and I hope all our readers have enjoyed these last three issues!
Have a great summer!
