Welcome to the first print edition of Mainstream for the 2024-2025 school year. Since school started in August, our editors and writers have worked diligently to learn a number of new skills including layout and design, editing, and writing journalistic articles. We truly hope you will enjoy the results of their hard work! We have a lot of new writers whose work we are excited to share with our readers.
In this issue of the student newspaper, you will find well-written opinions on topics such as the problems with cancel culture, the difference between listening and comprehension, and how social media can affect our mental health.
Other interesting topics you can read about include the revival of pop music we’ve seen in 2024, the reintroduction of vape detectors at PB, an interview with our new principal, Dr. Robinson, coverage of the first season of Paint Branch Girls’ Flag Football, and much more!
Thank you so much to both our new and returning staff members. The quality of work that we’ve seen so far has been astoundingly good and we are lucky to have such a dedicated group of students to work on this staff. Thank you to the editing team for their hard work and willingness to take on new responsibilities, and last but not least, a big thank you to Mr. Woodward, our Journalism advisor. None of this would have been possible without you and we appreciate you so much!
