Burtonsville Day
Bringing the Community Closer
The Burtonsville community gathered on Saturday, September 28th for the much-anticipated, and always lively, Burtonsville Day.
Just around 9:00 AM, the Paint Branch parking lot became packed with Girl Scout troops, Cub Scouts, Latin dancers, politicians, dog owners and more, all preparing for their annual walk down Old Columbia Pike for the Burtonsville Day Parade.
At 10:00 AM, the first sounds of the Paint Branch Marching Band could be heard from a mile away. These sounds even brought our neighbors at Springbrook out to celebrate the big day, as the Blue Devil Marching Band played loudly and proudly.
The parade closed with three fire trucks from our local station, Station 15, leading everyone from the far end of the street to the Marilyn J. Praisner Recreation Center for post-parade activities.
While a group of local musicians played a few upbeat tunes, vendors sold their products, friends and neighbors chatted and a few community members helped out on the grills. Overall, the day was a huge success, bringing the small town of Burtonsville a little closer, with a classic tradition and good company.
