Welcome to our second print edition of Mainstream for the 2024-2025 school year and happy 2025! Semester two is finally here, and we’re incredibly proud of the students who have continued with journalism into the second half of the year! They continue to work incredibly hard to write interesting articles, produce amazing podcasts, and hone their journalistic abilities. We are excited to share the new work they have produced since our last issue. This issue features articles addressing topics such as teens standing against human trafficking, whether public transportation should be free, and why all internships should be paid. Additionally, in this issue you can read about MCPS extending the school year due to weather closures, how to take advantage of both the new year and new semester, why more teens should be able to vote, and the differences between how emotions are viewed in women and men. Catch up on entertainment and sports with interviews with winter athletes, opposing viewpoints on the NFL draft, our staff writer’s five most anticipated movies of 2025, and so much more!
To our staff, thank you for working so hard. Without you, we couldn’t make any of this happen! Your dedication to releasing quality work makes Mainstream the best it can be. To the editors, thank you for your dedication to making the print edition as beautiful as possible! It’s a lot of responsibility, but you continue to rise to the challenge. As always, the biggest thank you is reserved for our journalism advisor, Mr. Woodward. We couldn’t do any of this without him!
