I used to think senior year felt far away, but as my junior year comes to an end, I can’t help but stress about what my last year of high school has in store for me. That being said, when I am able to look back at this year, I can definitely say that it has been one of the most crucial years of high school for me. I feel this is the year where you finally start to figure out who you are and who you want to be. Looking ahead, there are many important things I would like to accomplish during my senior year.
Moving into senior year means a lot of things; there’s preparing for college, writing essays, and getting recommendations, which can all be very stressful. With all of these things in mind, the most challenging part for me will be leaving my childhood behind. This is truly the beginning of our lives, and it came around so fast. Some goals I have for myself are to truly enjoy this last year, make connections with my teachers and peers, and maintain a positive mindset. Some other big things I’m looking forward to are senior sunrise, getting my license, prom, and continuing to grow as a person before stepping into the next chapter of my life.
Reflecting on this year, I have faced many challenges, such as outgrowing friendships, managing tougher classes, and navigating a packed schedule. In the end, I learned many valuable lessons. The most important lesson I learned was that you can have support from others, but only you can truly push yourself towards your success and goals. My advice to others who are approaching their junior year is not to take time for granted and stay focused and motivated at all times. Junior year flies by in an instant, and it’s important to stay focused and not to fall behind. When you do fall behind, have the motivation to pick yourself back up.
As I begin to approach my senior year, I can say that my struggles have taught me much about perseverance, personal growth, and determination. I will take these lessons with me into senior year and throughout my life. For those experiencing similar challenges, be easy on yourself, because every setback is only temporary and prepares you for what’s to come next.
