Welcome to the very first print edition of Mainstream for the 2025-2026 school year, and happy holidays to all. As students have eased back into school from a much needed break, which, luckily for us, is followed by another one very soon, Mainstream editors and Journalism 1 students have been working diligently to put together some high-quality student journalism for this print issue as well as the newspaper website. This issue you will find articles that cover topics or events including senior unity day, the marching band seniors, and PB’s very own EESA (Ethiopian Eritrean Student Association).
Additionally, you can also find articles that showcase the Panther Paw, mental health resources at PB, and the growing interest in Dia de los Muertos in the U.S. We’ve also included an amazing center spread that showcases our PB seniors. In our opinions section, our writers express their thoughts on important topics like social media and environmentalism. On the entertainment side, you can find our staff’s favorite winter movies as well as articles about Hollywood’s fatphobia and the eldest daughter syndrome. Catch up with our winter athletes and what they look forward to in the sports section.
Another huge thank you goes to our staff for working so diligently. Without them Mainstream couldn’t happen. Their quality and exceptional work makes our publication the best it can possibly be. Appreciation to our editors as well, they make the print issue a sight to be seen and they always rise to the challenge. Besides our staff and our editors, words cannot express the amount of gratitude reserved for our journalism advisor Mr. Woodward. Without him the print issue and the website would not be possible.
