Welcome to the second print edition of Mainstream for the 2025-2026 school year, and happy spring! Despite the countless snow days we’ve encountered over the past three months, our Mainstream editors and student journalists have continued to work diligently to create a newspaper that reflects the creativity, the dedication, and the voices of our community. We’re thrilled to share some of the new pieces of work that have been written since our first print issue of the year.
In this issue, you will find articles that spotlight important events that have occurred within our school, including PB students protesting ICE, NJROTC cadets commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Challenger disaster, how long we’ll be going to school in June due to snow, and a peek at the new show PB Perspectives brought to the auditorium stage. Our feature section explores topics such as Apple vs. Spotify and how important spring break is. You’ll find a variety of pieces in our opinions section that reflect the challenges that students face today, including AI in the classroom, why it’s so hard to ask for help, and the stress that comes with junior year.
Beyond these pieces, our entertainment section dives into articles on the global rise of Mexican cinema, how streaming has impacted the in-person movie experience, and our Mainstream Editor’s Picks: Spring Binge edition. Meanwhile, our sports coverage highlights the excitement of the new spring athletics season!
As always, we want to thank the students who made this issue possible. Our editors have worked hard through planning and designing each section to truly bring this newspaper to life. We also thank our Journalism 1 students for their important contributions, and encourage you to check out more of their work, including engaging podcasts and photojournalism, which can be found on our website at pbmainstream.com. Lastly, we extend our gratitude to our advisor, Mr. Woodward, whose guidance and encouragement kept our team motivated throughout the creation of this issue. We hope you enjoy reading the second print edition of Mainstream for this school year!
