This is one of the best draft classes of all time, with star power throughout the lottery. If you land in the top five this year, whoever you get should make the front office happy.
I think AJ Dybansta will be the number one overall pick. The freshman from BYU averaged 25.5 points and just under seven rebounds, leading the Cougars. The Massachusetts native brings length and size to the court and with his aggressive style of play and shot-making ability he’s very tough to guard.
The next best prospect is Darryn Peterson. The freshman out of Kansas averaged 20 points and is simply one of the best scorers the world has ever seen as he can shoot from anywhere. He is so smooth and standing at 6’ 6”, he is someone teams won’t want to pass up.
With the number three overall pick, I predict Cameron Boozer will be selected. The freshman out of Duke averaged 22.5 points and 10 rebounds. There are questions about how his game will translate to the NBA, but there’s no denying that he’s talented, and in today’s game you pick talent when talent with such a big frame and ability is available. I have no doubt that he will succeed in the NBA.
Caleb Wilson is a lengthy wing who has a very high ceiling with his defensive capabilities, as he covers so much ground when he’s on the floor. The UNC freshman had his season end due to injury but it will be fun to watch him return at the next level.
Darius Acuff out of Arkansas is a sensational guard prospect, and another one of John Calapari’s studs. He had an amazing NCAA tournament and showed the world just how strong a scorer he is. He also excelled at getting his teammates involved in the game showing that he’s a true point guard. Whoever gets Acuff is getting a leader and a dominant player.
The NBA lottery order always seems to have some surprises so the player picks could change based on the order, but whoever gets the top three spots are sure to be happy.
