The Seattle Seahawks claimed their second Super Bowl victory in franchise history by decisively beating the New England Patriots, 29-13.
Here are my Top 5 Takeaways from the Super Bowl:
- Like I said in my preview, the Seahawks’ defense is amazing and they showed this by being the real star of the show on Super Bowl Sunday. Seattle’s D completely shut down the Patriots offense, only giving up 46 yards in the first half and totally dominating for three quarters.
- Even though he didn’t score any touchdowns, Seattle’s Kenneth Walker, III went full beast mode with 135 yards rushing and taking home MVP honors. In doing so, he was the first running back to earn the MVP since 1998.
- The Seattle pass rush was relentless. The D-Line lived in the backfield all night and defensive end Uchenna Nwosu even grabbed a pick-six. The constant pressure made life miserable for Drake Maye.
- Sam Darnold did exactly what was needed: In his first season with Seattle, Darnold stayed calm, protected the ball, tossed a TD, and let play-action do the heavy lifting. No hero ball required.
- Special teams quietly stole the show: Kicker Jason Myers was automatic, drilling five field goals — a Super Bowl record — and keeping the scoreboard moving when the offense stalled. I guess you can’t give the kicker the MVP, but he certainly made his case.
