Super Bowl LX is a rematch between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, who played an epic game eleven years ago. The Patriots hope to recreate the results of that 2015 game and win their seventh Super Bowl in franchise history. The Seahawks look to finally put the one-yard line jokes to an end and bring in their second Super Bowl in franchise history. Both teams ended the regular season 14-3 and had top ten offenses and defenses
The Seahawks are led by quarterback Sam Darnold, who has rejuvenated his career with back-to-back 14-3 seasons – though last year it was with the Minnesota Vikings – as well as NFL Offensive Player of the Year wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba, who has thrived as the true WR1 after departures from DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Their road to the big game was lined with familiar faces as they only played teams from their division in beating the San Francisco 49ers 41-6 before taking down the Los Angeles Rams 31-27.
The Patriots are led by quarterback Drake Maye, who finished second in the MVP voting this year and looks to be the next Pats star. This year has been an amazing turnaround with the addition of former Patriots player and two-time Super Bowl winner Mike Vrabel as their coach. He has definitely gotten a lot out of a team without many superstars, but I think the magic is going to end at the hands of the Seahawks defense.
The Seahawks have an elite defense and are ranked first in the league in points allowed, giving up only 17.2 points per game. They also ranked 6th in total yards allowed, holding teams to 285.9 yards per game, and they ranked 3rd in rushing defense. May will need his offensive line to step up, and I don’t think they’ll be able to hold off a Seattle defense that will be rushing all game. During the season, they were in the top 5 for pressure rate and sack,s and that should continue in the Super Bowl.
The only way I see the Patriots winning is if Seattle turns the ball over a lot, or there are some special teams craziness.
I’m crowning the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl champs with a 24-14 win.
