On October 14th, Paint Branch held its annual college fair in the gym.
As the name of the event suggests, representatives from about 60 colleges from around the country came to PB, and 545 students were able to talk with them and ask questions in order to learn more about their school. Additionally, some of the colleges’ representatives hosted on-the-spot interviews for students who signed up, and they could possibly gain admittance that day. Many students who were part of PB’s AVID Program were able to get accepted into colleges with these interviews. Additionally, if people weren’t interested in going to college or wanted to get a job straight after high school, they could talk to job or military recruiters, like Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and the Marines.
When asked about how the college fair went, PB’s College and Career Coordinator Ms. Kelly, who was in charge of the event, thought it was a great success, as a lot of people attended and asked thoughtful questions. Additionally, she claimed that both students and representatives shared positive feedback about the welcoming atmosphere, helpful staff, and the overall professionalism of the event.
