The Panther Girls’ Basketball Team moved to 9-1 on the season with a dominant win against Springbrook.

It was a frigid 15 degrees outside, but the Paint Branch Lady Panthers couldn’t tell, as they dominated the Springbrook Blue Devils en route to a 79-29 victory. The victory moves the Lady Panthers to 9-1 and drops the Blue Devils to 3-9 on the season. It was a magical night for the Panthers as almost every shot seemed to find the basket. The hot shooting, mixed with unrelenting defense, created a formula for domination. Senior Kiara Colston, who was celebrating her birthday on this night, had her best offensive output of the year. Colston could do no wrong as she connected from everywhere on the court. She finished with 30 points on the night, single-handedly outscoring the Blue Devils.

The Lady Panthers started off the early onslaught with key play from junior Dasia Harris and Colston, who attacked the Blue Devils early and often, and the Lady Panthers finished the first quarter with a commanding 28-2 lead. The beat down continued in the second quarter as the Lady Panthers poured in 17 more points, while their defense gave up only 5 points to the stagnant offense of the Blue Devils. The Lady Panthers went into the half with 45-7 lead and never looked back.

They poured in 34 more points in the 3rd and 4th quarters and cruised to the easy victory. The Panthers now look forward to playing the rival Blake Bengals at home, as they continue to dominate against anyone who steps in front of them as they are poised for a state championship run.
