Senior Kiara Colston has been one of the Lady Panthers’ key contributors this season.

It was senior night at Paint Branch, and the Lady Panthers wanted to send their seniors out on a high note. From the opening tip, the Panthers hit all the right notes on the night, crushing the Coyotes 94-46 for their 20th win of the season.

The Lady Panthers came out looking inspired as they started off hot, hitting their first 4 shots while also playing lockdown defense. The Panthers three-headed offensive monster, led by senior Kiara Colston, attacked the paint early and often and broke the will of the Lady Coyotes. The constant attack got the frontline of the Coyotes in early foul trouble, and the Panthers kept the pressure on as they built a 28-12 first quarter lead.

The second quarter saw the Panthers turn up the intensity, especially on the defensive end, as they held the Coyotes to 8 points for the entire quarter. The crowd’s constant cheering seemed to inspire them as they locked down defensively and cranked up the offense. The team’s four seniors, Symrin Greenhow, Nicola Ekuban, Jasmine White and Colston, played extremely well together, and the ball movement was fluid and a joy to watch. The Lady Panthers finished the quarter with 28 points and went into the half, leading 53-20.

The third quarter was the Dasia Harris show as the 5’5” junior took over the scoring load and dominated over the Lady Coyotes. The 2nd part of the three-headed monster, Harris constantly made plays, whether it was dropping a sensational dime, hitting a timely 3 or playing lockdown defense.  The third head of the monster, junior Tyra Sinclair, decided to join the scoring mix in the third quarter as she too started to get hot. The dynamic duo of Harris and Sinclair carried the Panthers to another impressive 25-point quarter.  After the third, the scoreboard read 78-30.

Before the 4th quarter even started, the game had been decided, but that didn’t stop the Lady Panthers from continuing to dominate and imposing their will on their unfortunate opponent.

The Lady Panthers finished the regular season 20-2 and seem poised to make a state championship run. They are focused, eager and hungry and look to avenge last year’s state semifinal loss to Poly.
