PB Gives Blood, Saves Lives

Paint Branch students stood strong once again this year – this time for a cause that could one day save a life.  On Thursday, April 3rd these students spread or, more appropriately, gave their love to humanity at the annual spring blood drive.

While some people donated solely because they wanted to help save lives, others kept in mind what they could get out of donating as well. “I think that helping save lives is amazing, but the fact that you get a cord from donating 4 times will push more and more people to donate,” remarked senior Sneha Saggurthi, who was on this year’s NHS blood drive committee.

For the past several years, iNova has made the PB blood drives possible. “The best part about donating with iNova is that all the blood will go to the Northern Virginia and the DC metro area,” explained NHS Treasurer Lisa Mutooni. “It’s amazing to think you’re helping to save the lives of the people around you.”

“I’m thrilled with the turnout this year,” NHS Sponsor Ms. Kimmel enthused. “We had about 175 people sign up to donate blood…and I think that in the coming years that number will, hopefully, only increase.”
