Panthers Run Down Bengals

Girls’ and Boys’ Teams Dominate Blake

The Paint Branch Girls’ and Boys’ Track and Field Team, coming off one of the most successful winter seasons in school history, dominated the Blake Bengals in their first home meet in five years on Tuesday, April 1st.

The fact that they were running on a new home track for the first time as high-school athletes was not lost on the team’s veterans.  Long distance runner Hartej Singh commented, “[The] seniors, especially, showed out in our first home track meet in five years and the atmosphere was amazing.”

Hurdler Dimitry Decolin noted that the team was ready from the start, commenting, “[The team] came out to score as many points as possible.”  Decolin’s words rang true on the day as both teams won in a landslide, with the girls cruising 96-40 and the boys dominating 118-19.

Whether it was the new track, the PB/Blake rivalry, or the amazing weather, the track and field team showed up with a confident attitude and stayed on their “A” game for the entire meet. Approaching the meet with the “[Leaving] it all on the track” mindset of long-distance runner Harold Dorsey, nearly every member of the team set a personal record for him or herself.

The outdoor track team has picked up right where the indoor team left off and looks to continue their strong work for the rest of the season.
