PB Girls Varsity Lacrosse

PB: 9 – Northwood: 3

On Thursday, April 3, the varsity girls’ lacrosse team took the field for their first division game of the season against the Northwood Gladiators.   While they entered the contest winless on the young season at 0-3, the girls were optimistic that they could take down the Gladiators and earn a key win.  The girls made a strong statement in this one, taking down Northwood 9-3.   The game, though slow to start, took off after senior Kimberly Hall scored the first goal. This seemed to cue the momentum for the Panthers’ offense, which picked up the pace and put up seven unanswered goals before the half ended to stake them to a 7-0 lead.  The Panthers’ defense worked hard and used effective double-teams to prevent any Northwood goals during the entire first half of the game

During the second half, the Panthers scored once more while Northwood scored three to bring the final score to 9-3.  Leading the scoring was junior midfielder Mady Hedrick, who scored a hat trick on three fast-break goals, sophomore Melanie Doan, juniors Julissa Alvarez and Emily Higgins, senior Janice Fiallos and two from Hall.

The Lady Panthers, happy to have earned their first win of the season, look to build off this win against Blair Blazers on Monday, April 7th.
