On Saturday, September 20th, Muslim brothers and sisters from all around the DC, Maryland and Virginia area gathered at Six Flags America from 11 am – 7pm to celebrate Muslim Family Day.

According to the Islamic society of the Washington Area, the event was made possible by several corporate sponsors as well as support from the Islamic Center of North America.

“I love seeing families come together with other families as one “said Brother Faisal, one of the adults helping to supervise the event.

Families gathered all over the park to play games and ride the exciting rides, which made it seem to truly be a day to celebrate. “We try to make this happen in every state in America but we can’t do it without each other – we need all the help and support we can get,” commented Sister Khadija, another adult who was helping to organize and run the event.

Muslim Family Day was a success, as the whole park was reserved for the event. There were many rides and games, delicious halal food and a large bazaar for the whole family.  As the event was religiously themed, twice during the festivities everyone stopped to pray.

Those who ran the event noted that if anyone was interested in any of the other activities the group puts on, there were many other fun actives for the whole family coming up this year. For more information visit http://www.iswamd.org/
