Psyched for Psych: Mind-Boggling Fun

Jacob Bhatti, Staff Writer

If you love psychology and you’re looking for a fun club that doesn’t take up too much time, the Psych Club at Paint Branch High School is for you. As the name suggests, this club is centered on the social science of psychology. Members of the club meet every other Tuesday at lunch to discuss topics relevant to the field.

As soon as the members enter Psych Club coordinator Mr. Montalvan’s classroom, they hurry to their seats eager to discuss the topics at hand. Many members of the club join for its intrinsic value, as it truly is something to be psyched about. Adi Dorsey, the junior treasurer, feels the club, “Is a fun experience.”

The Psych Club is not only a great club to join, it is also a great way to get involved socially within the local community. Members host bake sales and other fundraising events to garner funds for their club. They also participate in many local events that take place in Downtown Silver Spring and even in the DC area.

Mr. Montalvan took over Psych Club with the intention of uniting lovers of psychology by offering them a fun and comfortable environment to discuss and interact. “I think Psych Club is a great way for kids to get exposed to the field of psychology. It’s also a really great social club.”

If you enjoy being around Mr. Montalvan, are passionate about Psychology, and are looking for a great opportunity to meet new people, the Psych Club is made for you. It not only looks good on a resume, it also provides you with insight as to how people think and feel.
