Burtonsville Carnival

The Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department held their 24th annual carnival this year for 10 straight days in September. The event opened on September 12th and ran until September 22nd

This was the 5th year the carnival has been held at a site adjacent to Route 29 and is open to all ages. Each day, the carnival opened at 6:30pm and was open until 10pm each week and until 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The carnival also hosted special nights like “Family Night”, which when each child could ride unlimited rides all night for one low fee. The family nights were Thursday 9/11, and Sunday 9/14 through Thursday, 9/18. On Saturday, September 22. The carnival was small and comfortable. Majority of faces I saw were familiar, peers from school, and family friends were much of the crowd

Paint Branch senior Efua Beneman, who has been going to the fair for five years, said that she enjoys it, but feels that the prices are a little high. This year Beneman brought her two little sisters, but felt that the fair was “a little dry” because “it was just people from school.”

Paint Branch junior Danyele Bennett, who has also been attending the fair annually for a long time felt that the food was “pretty good but the prices are a little too high and the rides were fun but a little too rough”.
