Paint Branch and Magruder JV Soccer Tie it Up

Cayla Reed, Staff Writer

The Paint Branch JV Girls’ Soccer Team played a home match against Magruder on September 23rd in a tough contest.  While neither team came out on top in this one, the 1-1 tie was definitely a worthy battle.

The PB team’s record now stands at 0-4-1 as head coach Jeremy Harris and Captain Yasurys Peralta and Co-captains Anastasia Lamper and Anusha Basnyat continue to look for their first win

In this game, the Panthers almost had that big, first win, but Magruder held tough. The Magruder girls definitely held the ball more in possession as they came to the game pumped and ready for a battle.  When they hit the field,  they were definitely aware of the game plan.  The Paint Branch girls, on the other hand, weren’t playing to their full potential as they needed a wake-up call to get them going. Goal was made by Number 6 Ashley Ruiz in the first half; this call came in the form of Magruder’s goal, which came as a surprise to Magruder.

After the Colonel’s scored, the Panther girls got fired up and started to work harder to make a goal. The goal was provided by Anusha Basnyat, who scored with little time left in 2nd half.  It was a great goal and was the result of her teammates fighting off Magruder girls who were going after the ball. Jenny Number 17 says, “The game could’ve gone smoother, but all together it was good.”

After the goal scored by Paint Branch, they did their best to keep the ball out of Magruder’s possession. Which left the game tied at 1-1.
