Prom Demands: Seniors Only, Please

Seniors, do you think it’s fair to share your last special moment of high school with the underclassmen?

Underclassmen have one more year to lead and enjoy the spotlight so, since prom is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, seniors should be able to make the best out of it and have the ground to themselves to shine and stun with each other. It’s like the underclassmen are always competing to steal the spotlight from the senior class, and they need to fall back and wait their turn.

I’m sure we all don’t want to attend prom twice in a row and ruin it for others who haven’t gone yet. Prom is supposed to be special, especially for the seniors who have yet to attend. It doesn’t make sense for the juniors to go to prom, when they have one more year to go. I know I wouldn’t want to attend prom twice in a row because I want my first time to be my best time, which is great and breathtaking. Juniors going to prom is like me ruining a movie for those who haven’t watched it yet, which makes it pointless; they already know what’s going on and what to expect.

I’ve heard multiple alumnus complain about how they had to share their prom with underclassmen. Last year, PB alumna Bessem Ashu said that she didn’t like the fact that she had to share the floor with the class of 2015 because they were ruining it for her. I thought it was funny at first when she was complaining, but now that I’m in her shoes, I understand how she feels. Seniors deserve to have the spotlight on them just like they did during the homecoming pep rally. If you don’t remember, seniors had a special entrance with crowns on their heads, as they walked around the gym cheering, while the underclassmen booed them.

Not to sound rude at all, but prom should be a one-class thing, and the seniors deserve all that time for themselves to celebrate their last event in high school as teenagers before their adulthood in college.
