Panther Sports Briefs: Wrestling

Josh Doane-Malotte, Editor-in-Chief

Coming into the season, the Panthers were ranked 3rd in the county, but injuries forced them to spend parts of the season missing key wrestlers in the 152, 170 and 195-pound weight classes. Gibbs Tinne, wrestling at 195 pounds, returned for the PIT Tournament but was not at full strength due to a broken hand suffered during football season. The team finished the season with a 6-7 record and several tough losses. Despite the issues, the Panthers had a shot at the division title when they took on Magruder but fell just short, losing 38-42, and settled for 3rd place. The Panthers had some success at the county tournament as Ryan Van Meers, Nolan Smith, Donovan Paris, Rick Djuehon all placed and qualified for regionals. Regionals are this weekend at Sherwood.
